Pulled the trigger on a Sapphire R9 280X. Was able to put it into the shuttle and it powers up. Survived a 15 min burn in with furmark. The SOB gets HOT though... approaching 90C with fan going at 95%. Under normal gaming condition hover around 60-70C.
+1 for shuttle XPC. the SZ87R6 has mini pcie and msata. Only thing is make sure your video card fits into the case before getting it... found out the hard way for me.
Been a while since I got my Shuttle Sz68R5, looking to upgrade my video card. Currently using a XFX Radeon 6870, seeing all these "used" mining cards for sale (know it's risky, but deal is good).
Question is can the 500w PSU in the shuttle handle a R9 280X? Anyone with the shuttles got...
Any using that Intel SRT with a MSATA card? I picked up a 32gb MSATA card off ebay... followed the instructions by setting bios to RAID and installed the intel software, still no acceleration option. Any ideas?
Reply to the earlier poster with concern to noise, I got a XFX Radeon 6870 in mine, its noise is very noticeable. Its got one fan, not sure how it compares to the reference design blower fan.
I got almost the same setup as digikid, mine idles below 40C under load it goes upto 75C.
and FYI for anyone using the mini PCI-E port for wireless internet, you will need a almost 30cm antenna wire to reach to the back of the case.
