What is interesting about this proposal is that it can bring the extra components into the loop without adding resistance to the loop, thereby saving need for extra pumping power. You may be onto something there Arcygencial, in terms of how to bring small heat loads into a loop without need to...
Cant be bothered cutting holes for a rad, needed room internally for a triple, and wanted something that looks nice, so went with a Chenbro. Love their cases.
All of the above plus several others. Whats best is subjective. If you want zero modding and have the budget a Mountain Mod case will do nicely.
For me due to space constraints I looked around and found a mid tower that could accept the PA120.3 and that was best for me. So it all depends on...
My Chenbro case came with a 120x38 Delta mounted in a tool free fan holder as rear exhaust. Its exceedingly rare to see 38's installed as original equipment but there are a lot of cases out there that should allow you to replace the stock fans with your leaf blowers. :D
Interesting plan - doable I should think.Your proposed PA120.3 location is not that common. But it's how I have mine setup. Also was striving for a low noise system. What I have found is that locating rads deep inside the case makes for great noise isolation - I don't hear the rad fans at all...
Helped you accomplish what you wanted to do, that's cool. My own preference is to avoid the added restriction they contribute.
In terms of the manifold, do you ever actually throttle the cpu branch? That valve seems redundant.
Obviously a lot of work went into this build. But I think you made some questionable layout decisions. You mention running the pump on a low setting for acoustic reasons. This comment does not surprise. Placing a whiny pump like the D5 externally almost forces running the pump on low if wanting...
Per Arcygenical, the right fans and rad are a big factor.
I'm running a low restriction rad combined with quiet fans, ie Thermochill PA120.3 + Noctua fans. For pump the DDC with an after market top is next to silent mounted on a foam pad. Then a gpu block to eliminate gpu fan noise. Nice...
Leaks aren't that big a deal. Not too long ago had one that dropped coolant all over my vid card, sound card, and nic card - and not just a few drops. Alcohol swab followed by 10 minutes or so with a hair dryer and was back in business. Have seen a number of posts now describing panic attacks...
Like the last post, there are many options if only planning a 120.2. As an example refer below. (Antec Sonata, since retired) I prefer to avoid power tools
If you're flush a mountain mods case is one option. Off the top a couple of other premod cases are Thermaltake LCS and Gigabyte Mercury.
But you can water cool a standard case with zero mods and save a lot of $$. Here is an example of a system I did awhile back. The water cooling took about...
