I love AMD because I got 18 months out of a server due to their great MySQL performance. They offer great price/performance, and they keep Intel honest. However, Intel better be careful, Apple used to keep Microsoft honest!
Variable hard drives are said to range between 4200-7200, but reviewers have said they don't exceed 5400. Seems to be a decent deal if you're just looking for some storage, and are concerned about saving a few watts. If you're looking for a high-performance hard drive... move on.
Factories cut production of DDR2 RAM and shifted production to other lines a few weeks ago. They are all currently selling RAM at major losses, and it can't last long. I think we're near the bottom. We'll see the prices start to increase in June.
The only DVD problems I've heard about are "twinkling" in the background. This only was a problem with nVidia cards, and the latest drivers are supposed to correct it. I'm using an ATI 9800 Pro and haven't noticed this.
