Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Been playing:
Baldur's Gate
Freespace 1
Freespace 2
By the way, for any fans of the Freespace games I would very highly recommend the scp project upgrade. It *almost* looks like a new game now:

So can someone give me a brief explanation of a situation where HDMI comes in handy? I understand that it can send uncompressed digital sound or video signals, but I guess I don't understand the specific application of it.
I mean, do you route sound from your HD-DVD or Blue-Ray via HDMI to...
Yeah, I was thinking of just buying the TX-SR304 for $149 (including shipping) off of amazon, and then if I needed a better receiver in the future picking one up later. From what I've read it doesn't seem like the HDMI thing is quite settled yet.
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but why is HDMI necessary? I read up on what HDMI actually is, but I just don't know enough to understand the practicality...
I just want to make sure I'll use it, considering it'll be about a $200 premium.
Thanks!
I am buying a new receiver, and I was looking at the Onkyo TX-SR304s because it does all I need it to do audio-wise. My question is whether or not it is necessary to purchase a receiver that also handles video conversion, or switching or whatever.
I guess my question boils down to this: Do I...
Hey all, thanks for the help. Based on recommendations here, and another site (techreport), I think I'm going to go for the HSUResearch STF-1. It's an 8" downfiring sub which will be better than what I had before, and should blend in with the speakers I already have.
Unless there is a good...
Wow, thanks for the quick replies;) Just a couple more questions:
What am I looking for in a sub? I see that some are down firing, and others are front firing. What does this mean? What does long throw mean? Is there a risk of getting a sub that's too large or too small so that it won't...
Hey, my Cambridge Megaworks 510d system (well... the subwoofer / amp part) crapped out on me the other day, and instead of buying a new 5.1 system I'm thinking of pairing my existing satellites with a new receiver and subwoofer. The problem... I have absolutely no idea on what to look for in a...
Thanks.
Yup, I had been editing the Oblivion_default.ini, once I edited the one in My Games is fixed the problem. *Much* better, I was getting vertical texture lines dividing two halves of a hill that were almost equidistant from me. It looked pretty bad.
This game smacks smacks my...
Hey all, just a quick question for those of you that have delved into the video options and .ini files. The ground textures are really blobby when I'm outdoors. They're ok until about 300 (in game) meters out, and then there is a line between ok looking textures in the foreground and horribly...
Can someone help me out with a definition on a pixel shader, and how you determine how many a gfx card has? Thanks!
Err, aren't they just programming language, basically?
Well the Germans that manned a lot of the so-called "Atlantic Wall" were static divisions, and had old, young, wounded, or out of shape troopers. Hardly the creme of the crop from the German army. Now there were some exceptions, like the paratroopers under the command of Van der Heyte.
That exact thing happened to me at one or two spots in the demo, though I didn't have a problem in the retail game. However, if I turned my physics and sound down to minimum it allowed me to pass those points. You may want to try that.
