Xbox 360 - RRoD behavior questions

I had similar behavior. Locked up during GoW out of the blue one day, rebooted, instant RRoD. Rebooted again, dashboard was stuttering, then it locked up again, rebooted, RRoD. I shut it off and let it sit for an hour or so, played ok for about 5 minutes, then locked up. Reboot, RRoD. Got a...

Finally Red Ringed... A Few Questions...

I just went thru the process with mine about a month ago. Took like 13 days for the whole process (AZ to a repair center in TX). I packed it myself and used their pre-paid shipping label rather than wait for a box. It's the same unit, so it appears that they do fix some of them.

    NXE Locking up?

Yes, i've seen this on the friends list as well. Last night, the whole list appeared to be there, but there were no avatars (or even placeholder avatars) for anyone. They popped in all at once after about 15 seconds.

    Ruined my disc. Ethical decision?

FWIW, i've used one of those cheap "disc doctor" things on several 360 and PS2 games (and DVDs), and they all work flawlessly now. My brother's son bumped into the 360 when we were about to play Rock Band, scratching the entire disc, preventing it from loading. After "doctoring", it works...

Is there an "auto run" folder in Leopard?

You can also look in /Library/StartupItems.

    Looking for an RPG

Another vote for Titan Quest, it's a great hack and slash lootfest. There's also some older games like Sacred that are similar, though not as pretty. Two Worlds is, as someone else mentioned, wierd. It's like Oblivion with tweaks to make it more action and loot oriented. I picked it up cheap...

Duke Nukem Forever confirmed for 2008 release?

Hmm, lemme think. I'll believe it when i can go to Target and pick up the box. I would be fine with DNFE being eternal vaproware. Cause whatever they release now can't possibly live up to anyone's expectations.

    nano skipping, please help

Does it always skip in the same place, and does it skip if you play it on another device (your desktop)? I've had this happen on an old MP3 player with VBR encoded songs. Ripping them again with different settings or at a fixed rate usually cleared it up.

Indenting in code - Tabs or Spaces?

Spaces, with the tab key set to be 4 spaces in whatever editor i'm using at the time. Keeps thing consistent across almost any environment. Not as big of an issue as it used to be, and for some, maybe not an issue at all. When i was working with VB, maybe half the people i worked used spaces...

So who in here plays games on their MacBook Pro laptop?

I tried Supreme Commander last night (dual boot XP), and while it runs and looks fine, it doesn't run all that fast (not surprising). The machine is a C2D 2.33 w/ ATI x1600 256M video. I'd put it on par with my 3 GHz P4 w/ 256M x800XL, maybe a touch slower (i assume due to the video card).

    imput on Titan quest?

I'm enjoying TQ quite a bit. It's D2 with prettier graphics, when you get right down to it. And that's ok. =] You might also look for Sacred, it's a little older, but i enjoyed that quite a bit as well.

    1080p HDTV thread

I have a new Samsung HT-T5087S, and it's great for gaming. Very bright (too bright sometimes, but that can be adjusted), zero ghosting or blur, no burn in worries, every input i need (HDMI, VGA, component, svideo, even composite). The rainbows some people see are mostly not a problem for me...

    Benefits of Dual Monitors

Depends on what you do. As a developer, it's incredibly useful to have a second monitor for "static" items. I use one monitor for code and files, another for testing and docs. That way i can have as much code open as i need, and don't have to worry about the doc files or testing windows...

    shipping a fw900

The one i bought from Accurate IT was shipped to me via BAXGlobal (baxglobal.com). Not sure if they do non-commercial shipping, but it seemed like they could (they deliver to residences, though i actually went down to their building to get it). You can get a shipping quote on their site too.

    LCD Burn In

I can name one: coding. Granted, it's not every day, but there have been cases where i'll have code windows open for hours and hours. It's worse with multiple monitors, since the code stays open on one screen while i test on the other. That said, you can probably avoid the retention by...
