    The Cell + RSX=??

All I know is that RSX is based on nvidia 7800 hardware with a 128-bit bus to memory, I'm curious to know why SOny would start out with Cell doing everything and then switch over to discrete nvidia graphics? Anyone know the details? I think the ATI Xenos GPU hardware is a little beefier than RSX...

Large Monior+low res VS. Small+High res

I'm too cheap to spring for a system that'll run graphics at an lcd's native resolution, I don't feel a need to spend ~$500 to $600 on monitor and vidcard alone, just so I can play at 1920x1080, or 1680x 1050 or whatever native res a large lcd is. My sweet spot is 1280 x 1024 native res on my LG...

Needing very cheap games? Try this...

That's a pretty good tip - but you should probably mention checking out any hardware they might have too, I'm sure ppl find some decent parts there too, once in a while.

Vista gaming and 2 Gigs of RAM.......

I'd say spring for the upgrade to 4Gb now before prices slowly creep back up, since you run Vista you can make use of it. I'm happy with 2GB PC3200 in XP, had zero problems and don't see any performance benefit with 4GB.

Star Wars: the force unleashed Spring '08?

As long as Lucasarts doesn't turn out a game like the Star Wars Episode III game I'll be happy. I'm sure it'll be releasing around the same time as some of the other new Star Wars stuff, maybe the animated series :D

What games have you regretted buying?

For me it's Oni and Unreal 2. Both I bought when they hit the Target sale rack for under $10, Oni had much promise back then, being all anime-inspired and from Bungie and all, shame that the controls sucked and it had pretty bad level design, and was freakin difficult too. Unreal 2 was just...

*New* Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Screenshots

Good to hear it's coming to PC, I'm not comfortable with using controllers for any FPS, hopefully I'll be upgraded from my shitty little x800 gto when this coems out - right now it runs GRAW PC decently at 10x7, as long as i can adjust graphics options in my games I'll be happy with FPSing.

[CS:S] how do you get counter strike to work in vista?

I'm guessing you might have some kind of User Account Control problem? (UAC), that's the oinly thing I can think of - I don't run Vista so I don't know what else could cause it, and you only need a beefy vidcard if you want to run the nancified aero graphic interface for vista, otherwise it's...

    Upgrading from a 9800 Pro...

Agree with upgrading the PSU - any new vidcard you're looking at will need auxiliary power connector, your 350w antec will not cut it, it doesn't have the amps to support the new video card. But if you fry your system, well then it's time to get a whole new system right? ;)

Help deciding on a video card for the average gamer.

Think of the x1950 pro as being 3/4 of the x1900xt, it has 36 pixel shaders v3.0 versus the x1900 xt's 48 shaders, and the core/mem speeds (depending on the card manufacturer) place the x1950 pro at around 75% of an x1900xt. good resource to compare some basic vidcard specs and their relation...

    Games with deep economies

Second Life maybe? I don't know anything about the game itself, but I know I've read about it's economy and stuff like that in the past.

    Jaggies....

So how did you ever play games back before AA was realistically achievable on PCs? (Or were you still swimming in your dad's pants back then or something ;) ) Far as I'm concerned, "jaggies" are a product of the 3D rendering system, it's always been there in modern PC-based 3D games. Only when...

Best place to buy blank media?

I like to do price comparisons between meritline and supermediastore, I also signed up for the newsletters from each site to be notified about clearance stuff, special deals etc. Sometimes there are good combo deals, e.g. buy 200 discs get 100 dual-disc dvd holders, buy 100 get 100 paper...

Games to pick up with my upgrade

I would suggest Rainbow Six Las Vegas, since it's using the latest Unreal Engine 3 (like Gears of War) :) Would be a decent test to see what Unreal Tournament 3 might play like on your rig. I'm not sure what game is more graphically advanced than R6 right now, you can say Crysis but it's not...

    looking for good multiplayer fps

For "popular and fun" I think it's a good choice to pick BF2 - it's well established, it's pretty much stable now after all the damned patching, good variety of loadouts (they nerfed the classes for 2142). BF2142 is pretty much just a total conversion of BF2, they retooled the same engine for a...
