That's total rubbish. Although it's true that all current movies do not have the ICT enabled (currently planned for 2012) ICT is in no way related to HDCP. HDCP only concerns digital cables (DVI/HDMI) with Blu-Ray and HD-DVD movies, whereas ICT only concerns analogue cables (VGA/Component). ICT...
I think all LCD pixels are square. Maybe you're getting confused with 1280x1024 LCDs (17/19") not being 4/3 like all other non widescreen monitors. They are still square pixel the aspect is just 5/4 instead. I know that doesn't help the issue in the post I just thought it was worth mentioning.
Ahaha... A better card?!!! Do you think people buy a graphics card dependant on how good the VGA output is? Wow, where do these people come from? I knew someone with a Eizo would turn up suggesting VGA is fine, does everyone buy those things just to use VGA cables? If I'd waisted that much money...
Ok, then I'll fall back on to my previous point about all DVI cables being better than any VGA then. Also the one about all monitors having different ADC's is pretty valid since a cheap monitor is not going to have a very good one. Since all computer video signals are digital as are LCDs why...
If you think buying a really expensive VGA cable just to be almost as good as a cheap DVI is a good idea then you're insane. DVI will always be better, also with short (less than 3m) lenghts all DVI cables are the same (perfect). Oh and the quality of the VGA is also based on the ADC inside the...
I am really confused what you are asking now. Maybe it's just me but that wasn't clear at all. Can you specify exactly what you're asking in a complete and coherent question please? 'RGB cable' is not a real term, if you mean VGA that's already been covered in this thread.
That's correct, if the player is trying to send a signal with HDCP but the cable doesn't support it then the signal would be stopped completely.
Also corerect, as long as there is no 'Image Constarint Token' (ICT) applied. Microsoft's Xbox360 could be a very strong argument to get rid of the...
That was a question? If you're reffering to those older monitors which connect via 4 BNC cables and you asking if it would play Blu-Ray/HD-DVD media in 1080p the same way that any other analogue cable bypasses the HDCP (D-Sub / Component)?... Then Yes it would. ICT is the only thing that could...
As far as I can tell from their website this graphics card is not dual-link DVI. Weather you need a dual link DVI depends on what kind of display you want to run. A single link DVI will power a monitor/TV up to 1920x1200@60Hz (32bit colour / 8bit per channel).
The two reasons you would need...
1080p on a non HDCP compatible monitor? Yes, only if through an analogue connection. No, DRM is not 10 years away and no, it's not speculation. Btw, it's probably a good idea to specify the type of DRM you are talking about, I assume it was HDCP you're talkig about and not ICT. It's amazing that...
Yeah absolutely, Sharp also do this with their line of of HDTVs. The 1920x1200 model which is about 2m pixels is quoted as being 6.2m pixels because of each RGB subpixel.
Is it just me or should all marketing people be shot? In thier deffence for this particular issue though all digital...
It's true that HDCP is only carried on digital cables but are you suggesting that the Xbox 360's HD-DVD player doesn't output 1080p because it doesn't have a digital connection? Because that's wrong. All content, DRM or not, can be output at full resolution through analogue cables with no...
