Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Yes, I got mine as well. I popped it on an older Mac Mini I had laying around (1.66 core duo) and played with it a bit. I daisy chained a couple firewire drives off it for RAID and mimicked a small office environment.
It's a pretty polished system, but the only things that really stood out...
Why not just use hibernate? It gives the appearance of "instant on", allows you to skip all the BIOS and POST delays, and maintains system state without consuming power.
Just want to add that the Intel X-25M G2 is working without issues in my mid-2009 MBP. Sounds like you just got a bad one.
There were no marks of note on mine when it arrived (week of release).
I have a current 17" MBP and am very happy. I use mine with a lot of VMs - Win7 (for Vsphere only really), OpenSolaris, Debian, and Fedora. RAM is really important as heavy memory swapping will make you want to end your life. Also, I'd recommend upgrading the hard drive if you plan on doing...
They can be very cost effective in the enterprise if you have the right application. Consider the amount of HDD (and rack space, power, cooling, etc) you'd require if you have a requirement where IOPS rather than space is king (and there are many, many such applications). High end Enterprise...
Ive now had a couple days with mine from the 'in stock' window on Saturday. I had been anticipating the G2 for awhile and the last few weeks waiting for them to fix their firmware had been torture . Now, after playing with it, I can definitely say it was worth the wait. My core 2 duo laptop...
It's .76in at it's thickest point, ranging from .15in-.76in. It's substantially thinner and lighter than the MBP in person. That said, I agree with your general point.
The WD Blacks' are great drives. The Seagates' are faster, but the previous generation was so riddled with firmware problems, that many, like myself,, went WD Black as an alternative. Haven't had any problems and was so pleased with them I use the raid versions in my storage server now.
If...
While I agree that it is a bit pricey, I think you might have missed that it isn't merely a 16-port card, but rather a 16-internal 8-external card. So, yes, 2 for half price, but to match functionality you'd need 3 cards and an internal-to-external passthrough (8088->8087). So, for 75% of the...
