    AceGoober's [FS/FT/WTTF/WTB] Thread

I'm interested in the TwinX1024-3200XL---if the $$'s from a pending computer sale materialize this weekend (prolly on Friday). ;)

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum- Troubling Article

That's very much the truth, b/c I know the DFI UT nf3 250Gb (socket 754) board) offer 1/2 multi's....h311, I seem to recall even the old standard, the Shuttle AN50R, had them. So it's nothing that new or different than what other manufacturers have dun. ;) PLUS, if MSI didn't offer this feature...

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum- Troubling Article

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum- Troubling Article

One other comment, as you say no processor uses true half multi's---I thought that the AXP's offered a true half multiplier, as the Athlon 2000XP's default multi is 12.5x, for example.

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum- Troubling Article

I havta agree, from an enthusiast standpoint, it's no biggy & if & when I purchase an a64 system, I'd definitely give this board serious consideration. Esp. since it's the board used to take the top spot in 3dMark01 (>41K)...so it's definitely an oc-friendly mobo. Personally, I would just stay...

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum- Troubling Article

Perhaps fault is too strong of as word to use...but there has to be one of three things happening & until the 'scope is used it's all speculation anywayz. ;) If the 1/2 multi's are being faked, either by NVidia or MSI, then I would definitely say there is blame to be dealt. Even if NVidia...

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum- Troubling Article

Something dawned on me while pondering how the A64 derives mem frequency...i.e., since there are only whole # dividers for the mem frequency, everyone is reporting that it is rounded up to the next whole divider. Check the charts & results from the article. The Everest reported mem. freq. is...

need opinion, which heatsink for amd 64?

    9800SE [H]Mod Result

I have a Powercolor 128mb 9800se that mods fine w/ Omega Cats to 9800 pro. I run it everyday @ 414/370. Here's the best 03 I could save: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2546342 I've ran it up higher but I got a CPU variation error or some bs & I couldn't publish. It runs up to ~450/...

    Do Harddrive coolers work?

64C is a tad warm...but your cpu won't melt. ;) AMD states a max temp of 90C for </= the 2100 & 85C for 2200 & greater. So if that's an accurate reading you have a bit of headroom b4 meltdown. I have seen 60C a few times w/ the on-die sensor w/ my Asus boards...and the socket reading would be...

    Do Harddrive coolers work?

Personally I use hd coolers....I have an 80mm case fan in front of the hds in 2 of my systems, 2 big @$$ 5 1/4 bay sinked--6 40mm fan (total) having bastids for my raid array & the Vantec (pictured above) for my wife's WD 120JB. They were all relatively inexpensive compared to the price of the...

    Quick Voltage Question

That's true insofar as voltage bumps go...you're always better off w/ the best oc @ the lowest possible voltage...it's a matter of trial and error. As far as your mem dumps, you should 1st dl MemTest86 & Windows Memory Diagnostic (if u want a second mem test): http://www.memtest86.com/...

    Cooling an AMD 3200

Just go w/ the sp97 & the Tornado....can't beat that combo & if the noise is objectionable then track down a Nexus or Sunbeam fan controller/ rheo-bus (as these will handle the draw of the Tornados). Of course, fan-induced dementia is not to be so easily dissed, as it's way cheaper than drugs or...

i think mbm is configured wrong... so can someone help

Yeah..you get what I was trying to say. The new versions are so much more user friendly... ;) I recall when I 1st discovered MBM, everything had to be configured---h311, the fan, the temps & so on would all be set to None & it was up to the user to find the right sensor (e.g., Winbond1...
