Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
It looks pretty fantastic for being rushed. I've never had the patience for coaxing the power and data cables into something resembling being controlled, just more or less out of the way of the airflow.
I couldn't tell you what from the information you give, but I think you're doing something wrong. I have the same board and same cpu as you and all I did to oc it was turn the multiplyer up to x45 in the bios and leave the vcore set to auto (which puts it at 1.3v at full load, totally stable)...
@TimKLL: after you added that top cover with the 140mm fan did it help your temps in any significant way? I just put my build together using this case (see sig), but I think I'm running into a heat saturation problem under persistent load where the heat can't get out so the temps build more...
I have my GD55 now. I left the vcore on auto just to see what happened and bumped the multiplier up to x45. It scales the vcore up to about 1.3 which is fine by me and everything runs great. No problems at all, been running like this for days doing lots of cpu intensive tasks and it's rock...
Yes I just built it today. Finally finished with all the updates, customizing, etc. and even got around to some overclocking. The board runs great, rock solid and fast with the 2600k at 4.4 on auto vcore (which works out to about 1.3v). My hyper 212+ handles it easily.
Anything in...
What's a good everyday max operating temp for the 2600k? I literally just built this computer today. Right now I have it running at 4.4 on auto vcore for simplicity's sake (which comes out to about 1.3v). I have the smartfan target set to 60 degrees C and my hyper 212+ maintains that easily...
So I got my GD55(B3) today, it's real. Also apparently my ram will be coming tomorrow so I'll put it all together if I have time and we'll see how she goes. I'm always paranoid about pressing that power button for the first time you know..? Afraid something will go poof and release the magic...
I don't have my board yet so I can't walk you through it but this article may help you: http://hardocp.com/article/2011/01/03/intel_sandy_bridge_2600k_2500k_processors_review/2
My GD55(B3) that I ordered from provantage (apparently they still have 4 left there) yesterday morning is on the truck for delivery right now. I have no idea how it managed to get here so fast but I'm by no means complaining. Too bad my ram which is the last remaining part won't be here until...
Hooray! Mine just got confirmed as shipped! (Just an email and updated order status on the website, no call :) ) Almost exactly an hour after yours was shipped, like clockwork. This after spending the morning refreshing the order status every 10 minutes because I was worried that I was too...
When exactly did you place your order? I placed mine at about 0730 pacific or about an hour after your original post and the status still says "Your Internet order has been reviewed and is about to be released into the order processing stream."
edit: Just now it changed after I posted that...
