    If you are using Bitlocker or any form of full drive encryption it affects the performance as well, most of my co workers with SSD's on their e6400 with bitlocker have seen performance drops after adding Bitlocker

    I don't think you are understanding the concept here. The drivers are for windows, so that windows can use the SATA ports in AHCI mode. Every time you format you have to load up the drivers so windows can use the ports and detect the drives.
