did u use ATI driver cleaner to completely remove the ATI drivers?(in safe mode?)
try clean install O/S, or clean install on a different HD.(easier to find the problem)
goodluck!
BFG6800ocGT running at 420/1060
max oc 400/1060 watercool gpu/nb/cpu but no ramsink yet on gt. biosmod to 1.4v. auto detect 429/1080 but not stable. mainly Doom3.
not worth it until u get a mobo with at least 3ghz or amd 3200+.
u should get some xtra boost with ti4600 with new mobo, then save more$ for the GT.
buy a new fan for the card and u all set. goodluck!
first thing first, is your CPU is at lease 3ghz or better? if not, FX5900 series is ok. if it is, go for 6800 series. u dont want CPU bottleneck on your GPU. goodluck!
9800pro/XT forget it! its a big jump from ti200 but a 6800 will kill 9800series of cards for a little more $$. unless u got a slow CPU like under 3ghz. goodluck!
brand dont matter to me, get the cheapest 6800 if you can, but GT is better for the long haul. OCing it does not make that much of a difference.so any brand would do. 6800GT beat 6800 by far at high res. unless u play at 1024res. 6800 is good. remember 6800 got 4 less pipes and less mem.(128...
the gpu core heat up fast when u have bad contact between hsf on gpu.make sure as5 does not smear all over the gpu(as5 are conductive). as i see it, it was fine untill u alter it right? As for me i add a thin layer on the heatsink as well when reinstalling. after reinstallation i aplied slight...
try the bios volt mod(its easy), it should give a easy 400/1050.
i got bfg6800ocGT(370/1000), bios voltmod to 420/1060 easy, just need to put on some ram sink to clock it higher. i use coolbit to OC with 66.81drivers. HF and goodluck!
The easy way is to HANG-IT DUDE. all U need is some cable ties that U can get just any where, get lots of different lenght, colors cheap......and some imagination...have fun dude!
With your rig AMD64(nice setup by the way)U wont be able to OC much with water, for $200 U wont get a good water system anyways. If you want quiet system and OC also, get ZALMAN flower CPU cooler and ZALMAN heatpipe cooler w/fan for vid.card(looks like ATI 9800pro from picture) for like...
We all knows by now larger fans is quieter and move more air, If your case fit 120mm fans , one that has 2300/2500rpm and buy a fan controller and U are set...have fun dude.
I would dump the fan completely, passive cool should do it since its larger than stock.
As long as U got good case cooling U are good to go bud...have fun.
Just dont forget to add AS5 to the heatpipe mating surface too..if it comes with yours, have fun on installation dude. I had fun with my ZALMAN heatpipe cooler. hehe
I got GeIL pc4000 512x2 duel ch. for $240 at fry's a few months ago. on Asus p4c-800 deluxe, 2.8Cghz OC to 3.5ghz at 250fsb 2.5-3-4-7 stable(2.5-4-4-7ram default). If U dont OC get a more agressive timing one like 2-2-2-5 or 2.5-2-2-5 if U can(makes a big difference). If U OC like me get these.
I got msiTI4600 on my other system, I use the ZALMAN heatpipe cooler for $30. Yep! it cost more but worth it, your vid. card is still good for awhile...so why not...U wont regret itI NO FANS ,NO NOISE, NO HEADACHE.... PERIOD!
