Prey (2017)

I pre-ordered this game it's the only game out there worthy of a pre-order if you ask me.

Some other games will be worthy once they are announced later this year.

For me this and Mass Effect: Andromeda are the "big ones" on my radar of known games so far this year.

Horizon Zero Dawn on the PS4 will likely be very good in its own right as well but Prey and ME:A stand out to me as potential GOTY candidates if they live up to billing.

Yep, and I'm not a console person, so ME:A and this are good enough for now.

Whenever you have developers talking serious about their game I like it weather they care or not :artist::artist::artist: I wonder what the system specs will be for this game?

A free Prey demo will be available to download on April 27 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, a week ahead of the game's May 5 release (no mention of a PC demo which is troubling)...the demo features the game's opening hour in which players first board Prey's main setting, the Talos I space station, where protagonist Morgan Yu is working on a scientific breakthrough that'll change humanity forever...

Looking forward to this one, probably a day one buy for me unless it gets pretty bad reviews.

I just don't get this.

Mabye under-hype is a good thing. Way too much overhype for ME:A.

Lets hope Prey delivers.

Huh, I didn't get that vibe at all. I think they're quite different TBH, genre-wise and gameplay-wise.

Just strikes me the same way, guy fighting creepy monsters on a space station? Maybe I've got it all wrong but still I don't think it'd be bad thing if this is like Dead Space.

the lack of a PC demo is troublesome due to Bethesda/Arkane's most recent release- Dishonored 2...but Prey is using CryEngine so hopefully it turns out better

The developers stated earlier on that they were going for a System Shock style experience. Which it looks like it will be. I believe the Dead Space creators said something similar when they were working on that. So, by proxy it's a bit like both in some ways I suppose, but I'd lean more toward the Shocks and less toward the Deads. We'll see how it plays though. I'm expecting it to be fairly Shockish.

They had the issues sorted out pretty quickly, and they've never made a bad game IMO. I'll grant you that yes, Dishonored 2 had a bit of a rough start, but it's an excellent game, and just needed a bit of performance patching.

Dishonored 2 is an amazing game. It had some performance issues for a whole whooping two weeks and somehow it's had an underwhelming performance best I can gauge and I don't get that at all. Really fickle.

It and Hitman were my GOTY for last year all the way.

Dishonored 2 picked up everything from part 1 and either expanded on it or improved upon it.

If Prey ends up being "Dishonored with a dash of Dead Space in space/System Shockish" that's going to be one helluva game for me.

The issue with Dishonored 2 comes down to inconsistent frame pacing - no matter how high your FPS gets, it always "feels" off or juddery.

I forget if I said it here (or was it on GAF I can't remember) but it really seems like Arkane's hobby is modding engines to fit their games. Let's hope their attempt at CryEngine goes well!

I force VSync (don't really like to play without it) and triple buffering where it's supported. I'll gladly take a millisecond or two lag for smoothness in most cases. (not all) Anyway, I haven't noticed any frame pacing problems recently. I started playing this again after not touching it since shortly after release (due to other distractions). Seemed to be running smooth as silk for me. Now I'm distracted with Nier and Zelda, so I haven't touched it again for a few weeks. Maybe I'll load it up later and be sure, but it seemed fine last time I played.

Seems like some people have the entire game already couldn't find a complete playthough.
Did not watch the 1-hr video yet. More time later.
Anticipating much discussion about playthrough once this hits the general market. As I alluded to on page one, this is going to be a "Metroidvania" style game. In short, not a linear point A to point B type of playthough. Much exploring and crossroads to choose. Looking forward to that personally.

Special effects never seen before it looks futuristic and the sounds XFX are amazing plus it takes place in the dark.

Played on my PS4 Pro last night. Not exactly blown away by the graphics or level design but OMFG the score/sound is orgasmic. The setting/plot both seem really good, and I'm into it. Just hoping the PC version has higher quality textures at least.

Faces look good and voice acting is quite nice too.

You should see all the complaints with the lack of Demo on steam it's just a joke everyone expects everything on there.

people are concerned about the lack of a PC demo mainly because they are worried about the condition of the port...could be the sign of a disaster or it could be people worrying over nothing...we'll find out in a few days...

I'm betting that (1) the game has serious performance issues on launch, (2) the community will freak, (3) Polygon/Kotaku will publish an overly exaggerated OpEd, (4) the bugs will slowly (but not completely) be patched out, (5) then people will discover that the game is actually pretty good. I'm waiting till around step 4-5 to consider a purchase.

It at least runs smooth as silk on the PS4 Pro for what it is worth. I know that doesn't necessarily translate into a good PC port but GR: Wildlands Beta was terrible on PS4 Pro and was proportionately shitty on PC at least for me. Hopefully Prey's good showing there is indicative.

I am also very skeptical though due to no PC demo.

I liked what I saw in the demo on the PS4 pro. Looking forward to 60fps and all that goes with it. There are a lot of hallmarks of everything from Bioshock, System Shock, Deus Ex... just like we've all been seeing and hearing about for months but with its own unique spins and slants on everything.

I'm looking forward to really digging into this thing.

I may get into trouble for this but for me personally the music, or at least some of it, was incredibly weak. It's hit and miss.

I'm just not into it. It gets especially abrasive and obnoxious during "combat/engagement/you've spotted" sequences.

The sound design is absolutely brilliant and critical. You can "hear" Mimics if you are quiet and lurking. I had to turn the in game music way down to not have it interfere with this.

But I thought my PC money are just as good. Do console gamers also get a blowjob? Bethesda is sending the wrong signals here, it's their fault people are not happy.

I've read some demo impressions and seems like it's not a shooter. Heh, no money from me.

Steam community flips out on about anything :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::D:eek: it's like a Bug zapping device created by Gabe.

Got both my keys from cdkey's for the game and a preorder shotgun today.
